Great news from across the water: £38 million funding has been secured for restoring British rainforests.
Meanwhile, even Irish rainforests in state ownership like Killarney National Park continue to slowly die from overgrazing.
Action is *long* overdue.

(The UK funding comes with the caveat that it's from a private company, so there's always the potential for greenwashing.
It would be far better if the funds were public.)

I'm shocked at the lack of general interest and concern. Are there no Wildlife Trusts in Ireland? If so, what are they playing at??

Not in the same way as in Britain. There's the (relatively small) Trust, who do amazing work and have been *highly* critical of the situation for years (decades even), but without getting the required change on this yet.

This side of the water it's hard to believe the money will materialise. 50 new hospitals etc.

This was on the channel4 news last night! For the Dartmoor rainforest in Devon. Such a beautiful forest. Imagine the tourist attraction of having rainforest rather than denuded landscapes along the wild Atlantic way. It truly would be wild with rainforest!
