    Price says the Iowa Democratic Party is is "manually verifying all precinct results." They expect that we will have results later today with "full confidence." On the call, they emphasized that the delay is a reporting issue.

    I stand with IDP in ensuring results are correct rather than quick. Accuracy doesn't run on deadlines.

    Another update from Iowa Dems - There are inconsistencies in the reporting of the three sets of results. They emphasize it is a reporting issue NOT a hack or issue with the app. They are using a paper trail to validate results.

    Iowa's 41 pledged delegates account for just 1% of all pledged delegates. (A candidate needs at least 1,991 to become the nominee.) Even adding New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina only gets to 5% of the total delegates at the national convention.

    And there are "superdelegates" - unpledged delegates who bypass the whole process and go straight to the national convention. They're officially called "automatic delegates" and there are 8 of them. BUT - in 2020, they can't vote on the first ballot at the national convention.

    BUT - to keep delegates, campaigns need to keep their activists and staffers involved at each of these conventions - delegates are NOT bound to their candidates, and the results can be very different from caucus night results.

    Iowa's 1,682 precincts determine 11,402 delegates which, over the next four months - through the county, congressional and station conventions - will winnow down to a group of 41 delegates. These delegates will go to the national convention July 13 - 16 in Milwaukee.

    Spoke to a few Warren supporters. Asked them all if they’d be disappointed with any particular nominee. Most (not quite all) said “nope. We want to win.” Some said will volunteer for whoever gets nom.
