Kim Reynolds’ ultimate goal is to ban abortion in our state.
Brenna Bird has set a dangerous precedent and signaled that she doesn’t understand that her job is not to be a lackey for Kim Reynolds.
Thankful to everyone who came out to the capitol today to celebrate our state's LGBTQ community and voice their opposition to the hateful legislation moving through our legislature.
If you or someone you know is struggling with their identity or thoughts of self-harm, know that you are not alone.
Here are some organizations that can help:
As the guy who has done more to fight waste, fraud, and abuse than anyone else in Iowa for over a decade, let me tell you: this SNAP reform has nearly nothing to do with fighting waste, fraud, and abuse. Here's a good summary.
Right now, the only thing standing between 40 million Americans’ crushing student debt and relief are lawsuits brought by opponents of our plan.

Every Iowa kid should have their basic needs met like food, shelter, and a solid education. This is a cornerstone Iowa value. Today, there are 300,000 Iowans facing food insecurity, and 1/3 of them are children. I'm against any legislation that furthers #foodinsecurity
Here's another harmful education bill moving through subcommittee this week on Tuesday, January 31st at 9:30am.
SF 85: an attempt to remove social emotional learning from the public schools.
This is the definition provided on the Iowa Department of Education Website:
Today, on holocaust remembrance day, I'm thinking of my grandmother Luisa Zabner. She was born in 1931 in a small town in what was then Poland (now Ukraine) and spent the war hiding in the forest with her parents. Almost all of her extended family was killed.
Saddened to hear about the passing of Larry Olk, Vietnam veteran, former Chair of the Veterans Caucus, and strong supporter of the Wing Ding.
My thoughts are with his loved ones.
They say you'll remember your 1st speech on the House floor. I am proud that mine was in support of #publicschools. Though the bill passed and was signed into law, I'll do everything in my power to fight for public schools. #WeChoosePublicSchools
My focus on Inauguration Day was being a First Lady for all Americans — doing my part to help bring our country back together.
These two ensembles, as a form of art and expression, were a voice for me on one of the most important days of my life.
has it right: All Iowa children deserve educational choices. But private school vouchers offer only the illusion of choice for those with disabilities.

Thank you to all who sent emails, made calls & even came to the State Capitol. We are disappointed we were not able to stop vouchers, we listened to Iowans when they spoke out in record numbers. I'll keep fighting for public school kids. 🙏
I had the honor this morning of introducing several teachers from Iowa City Schools who came to visit the legislature. Thank you to our teachers for their commitment to our young people and our community.
Iowa's public schools gave me, a 23 year-old Iowan, born and raised in this state, the skills and education necessary to become a member of the Iowa House of Representatives. When we vote today, the future those schools will be on the line. No vouchers.
The GOP just proposed new restrictions on the types of food eligible for purchase with SNAP benefits, putting even more pressure on families with children.
In addition, they would aim to keep families with more than one vehicle from receiving help. 👎
School vouchers will give money to private schools that don’t accept students with disabilities. That also means public schools will get less money… Double whammy.
75% of public schools in Iowa are in rural areas with no private schools & vouchers will hurt students in these communities. As a product of rural public schools in Ft Dodge, I know first hand that public funds need to stay in these schools. #NoVouchersIA#WeChoosePublicSchools
Rev, you stand in Dr. King’s pulpit and carry on his purpose – and we know that service doesn’t stop at the church door.
Thank you for inviting me to what you’ve rightly called “America’s freedom church.”
In the Oval Office is a bust of Dr. King.
I often think of the question Dr. King asked us all those years ago: “where do we go from here?”
My message today is that we go forward when we go together.
The future that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed of is within our reach if we join together.
On this #MLKDay, we honor not just the man, but the movement he helped lead and the principles he fought for.
