I would regret to separate from my comrades, but if the movement demands it, I'll have to stand it. The movement is bigger than the party, bigger than the trade unions and the movement may demand a shaking up of both party and unions to readjust itself to fundamental principles.

Last night, the House passed a $768,000,000,000 defense bill - $24 billion over what was requested and an increase from the previous year despite ending a war. But explain how investments in paid family leave, housing, care work, and education is too much one more time.

Even just adding BRT by removing parking on the arterial roads, we'd get rid of tens of thousands of vehicle miles a day, and make the city wildly safer. And that project would be in the 8 figures. The knock-on effect for housing would be good too. Wtf

not to mention, while Chicago isn't as dense as NYC, Boston or SF, given its huge size, it's very dense--denser than Philly, and not far behind Boston or even SF. A pre-highway city, designed for density. It's outrageous ppl sit in traffic here.

it's especially a sick joke in Chicago, where we have an almost pristine grid, land is comparatively cheap for a big city market, and there are few natural obstacles to rail, subways, or traction. Chicago could be made passenger-carless for less than $10 billion
