    Even just adding BRT by removing parking on the arterial roads, we'd get rid of tens of thousands of vehicle miles a day, and make the city wildly safer. And that project would be in the 8 figures. The knock-on effect for housing would be good too. Wtf

    not to mention, while Chicago isn't as dense as NYC, Boston or SF, given its huge size, it's very dense--denser than Philly, and not far behind Boston or even SF. A pre-highway city, designed for density. It's outrageous ppl sit in traffic here.

    it's especially a sick joke in Chicago, where we have an almost pristine grid, land is comparatively cheap for a big city market, and there are few natural obstacles to rail, subways, or traction. Chicago could be made passenger-carless for less than $10 billion

    What a colossal waste of resources. Gas, time, money, productivity, happiness. And that’s before we address the toll of traffic deaths and injuries.

    After a year of unsuccessfully trying to convince major pastors that defending Asian American lives (and all harmed by Sinophobia, i.e., everyone) is more important than adhering to rules and regulations, I can safely say that they've virtually all vitiated their credibility.

    NEW: A federal judge threw out a lawsuit against Illinois’ ICE detention ban. The ruling sets the stage for the state to rid all ICE detention within its borders by the end of January.
