I have a question, is the therefore and but structure always therefore and but in that order or can it be therefore, therefore but or but but therefore and other variables?
-
It's usually just "good story structure is every scene connected by one or the other."

Lovely video, and a great question at the end. BR2049 is in my top 2 films, and you raised some good points I hadn't thought of. Something I noticed before: The three depictions of nudity are with characters that the scenes imply are objects, not subjects.
-
Earliest with the replicant being cut open, Mariette gets up nude and walks off screen(arguably transforming from object to subject with this transition), and the third is Joi possibly reaffirming she is a program with no agency.

When you said "Blade Runner franchise’s already dubious notions of consent and female agency". Is that ironic understatement? Because I remember watching the old movie once and I remember a scene that I couldn't describe as anything other than blatant rape done by the protagonist
-
It's one of those complicated things where what you're seeing is sexual assault, but the writers have decided Rachael is ultimately into it and is silently consenting. So it is obviously, yet not canonically, rape.
