Maybe an emergency airlift of vaccines from the US can repay part of the debt.
I want to be clear about the nu variant. We know what we know BECAUSE South Africa has invested in advanced genomic sequencing. We owe them a debt of gratitude - not punishment. Transparency is critical in a global pandemic. We need to support these efforts collaboratively.

But shouldn't they understand that a country preventing travel from the country isn't a punishment, it's a public health measure? I understand that there's a good chance this has already spread to every continent, but a governments role is to protect its citizens.

It's already in Europe. With NO connection to South Africa. The travel been is political.
