The embargo period has expired today for something I've been part of. Enjoy~~

Yesterday I had an excellent opportunity to present our ClickShare research at the chapter meetup. My sincere thanks to the organizers and the excellent audience for making this a reality! <3

I wonder who the product security contact at might be? Nothing much comes up on google, poking around yielded nothing, contacting sales makes no sense. We have something interesting to co-ordinate against a certain SoC family or families.

So... Does anybody know of products making use of U-Boot's verified boot feature? Just asking for a friend here.....

I wonder if there is a method to measure core frequency when a SoC is running from an internal RC. 🤔

And BAM! this is the hardware upgrade. I opted for 1M chip but the process is the same for 2M. After changing the PID to 321000, the thing works just fine as 1M x 32ch (with ports C and D zero'd as they are not populated) or 2M x 16ch. It's that simple. :-)

Here it is, installed in the circuit, replacing the Cypress part. Soldering is a bit messy...

There is another apparently drop-in replacement made by GSI, the GS832036AGT for 1Mx36. The pinout appeared to be identical except pin 14. With that pin tied to VDD, the functionality seemed to be identical, for half the price.

The replacement has to be 1M or 2M x36, clocked at 250M, 3V3 I/O, and come in TQFP-100 with a compatible pinout. Sure enough, Cypress makes such parts like CY7C1440KV33 which appear to fit right in. However the price is around 60 euro / 1 ea. Slightly expensive.

This is what the device looks inside. The Cypress CY7C1347G-250AXC is used for storing sample data, a 128Kx36 SRAM. But hey, I know Zeroplus used to market 1M and 2M models too -- and I doubt they redesigned the whole thing. So I just need to find the right part to drop in.

I managed to upgrade my old but still good Zeroplus LAP-C 16064 to have 1M sample depth instead of 128K that it was born with. (64K originally, which is a software limitation which is fixed by changing the USB PID). Read on for the process.

In the end, the only option I found viable and relatively easy to implement was grabbing a Blue Pill board and implementing all the comms there. Luckily I only need to TX hardcoded data. Close to zero, consistent latency, can be improved further.

Thanks for the research . Can you point me to the advisory of this issue? How are the IT managers deploying these devices universally made aware? I believe these devices are sitting on the tables in meeting rooms without OTA updates.

My real question is though: what are the options for the lowest latency UART comms under Linux or Windows? The lowest I could achieve via FT232 is somewhere around 800us ish and varies, typically around 1ms. For some applications that just won't do.
