if you try to "revolutionize" the online experience (eg, what strive is doing), but you miss these fundamentals, players will not stick around regardless of how much budget you sunk into your other features ask any player (both casual and competitive). this is not hard to see.
i'm bummed because strive might have good rollback and might be fun to play, but the lobby system and lack of PC crossplay is going to be such a giant whiff that people will abandon the game, and arcsys won't take the right messages away from it
Among Us has a better lobby system for FGs than most FGs.
A big problem imo is not having a ranked system. I suck but like I enjoy ranked because it gives me a chance to gauge myself. Strive really doesn't have anything to gauge yourself off of imo. Not having ranked is just dumb.
talking about how to make a good ranked mode is an interesting topic for sure, and i think arcsys cutting it shows they don't understand why their previous games failed there, but my focus was on the user experience for this tweet
it ends up being the worst fg to exist but it has all those checkmarks so it’s still somehow more playable than the good games
I truly don't understand why Dev's or companies don't get this.
