Wait, why is psi_{a,b}^2 = 0?

Maybe it's the beer...but I don't see why (psi_a)^2 =0 as it is in the animation just because of this rule. I understand why the psi_a^co psi_b + psi_b^co psi_a goes to zero! But not the individual terms.
ψ isn't 0 it just squares to zero! sorry i understnad how it's confusing what i said my previous comment was actually misguided

What does it mean to square to zero? Unless do we mean *not* abs square value and instead (1-i)*(1-i)? So I was viewing psi we a complex number and psi^2 as |psi|^2! Is this a feature in fermionic statistics?

yes indeed. think about them as operators instead of numbers .. for instance think of Nilpotent matrices
