BTW... what the fuck is gravity? Also... what is Life? Also... how exactly does magnetism work? And lastly... why does the Atom not suffer Enrtopy?? I’m all ears

For those asking about EM following from the U(1)_{em} symmetry .. what this means is that you have the general SM gauge symmetry SU(3)_c x SU(2)_L x U(1)_Y .. and after the higgs gets a vev the SM electroweak sector (SU(2)_L x U(1)_Y ) breaks to the subgroup U(1) .. 1/2

The pseudo goldstone bosons of the symmetry breaking are the W+- and Z0 bosons of the weak force.. there is however an unbroken U(1) gauge symm. whose corresponding gauge field (connection) is chargeless and massless, and also obeys Maxwell's equations .. this is the photon field

There’s not a way to make sense of entropy for an atom? I would have assumed the different orbitals would be like different microstates for the atom.

You can assign a quantum entropy of sorts due to quantum uncertainty, but that’s not the same as classical uncertainty which gives rise to entropy

can u explain the second statement?

Loosely: If you multiply the electron’s wavefunction by a complex number, its equations of motion are left unchanged. This means the electron has a symmetry, and to preserve this symmetry, EM must exist.

When you say it “follows from the ... symmetry of the standard model” what does that mean exactly? Is it like conservation laws (energy, momentum, etc) which “follow from the symmetries” in the laws of nature under transformations?
