no, looking at it means nothing. however, if light hits your eye that lets you see it, that means it also is bumping into the atom, measuring it before you get to see it, and since the time evolution takes some time to effect the state you'll see it in the state it collapsed to

There’s nothing conceptually wrong with looking at the atom at arbitrary resolution, it’s just that (c.f. Heisenberg’s gamma ray microscope) it will be blown to bits afterwards.
