Maybe, a bit more precise: Do you think that the Action is a physical quantity, or just a neat mathematical trick to arrive at the equations of motion, which actually represent the physics?
it's hard to believe that the action is a physical thing since there are many different actions that can give the same laws of physics

True. Still, there are some experimental results like Aharonov-Bohm-effect, which seem to suggest that it actually is a physical quantity. But, even given this evidence I wouldn’t bet on it either.
