the parameter space is completely unexplored, even if the theories are right we wouldn't have any experiments in line to test it

So then does the heliosphere prevent "dark matter" from entering our solar system since galactic cosmic rays are less abundant inside the heliosphere?

It's most likely everywhere, but hard to detect for the same reason neutrinos are so hard to detect; they don't interact through many forces. And it's likely that they only interact through gravity, which would make direct detection virtually impossible.
