Very sound... everything observed since some decades is a surprise and results in some fairydust being added to the paradigm: dark matter, dark energy. Then billions are spend on finding this fairydust. Lol.
Are you purposing dark matter and dark energy are just statistical anomalies or what? lmao Particle theorists and cosmologists have the best tools for solving these problems.. unless you have something else in mind?

My best conjecture is cold "crystalline" plasma. Light generally interacts with matter through electrons. No electrons. No interaction. Not very exotic, but at least it's provable or disprovable, unlike gnomish dark matter
