      I’ve seen both handwavey and “rigorous” arguments for why 1+2+3...=-1/12, but I can’t see why anyone can get passed the fact that its a fraction and its negative. Moreover, why do physicists feel justified in using it in string theory calculations? It doesn’t pass any smell test.
