Elon, I beg you. We have worked so hard to get rid of the quantum woo peddling `only when you look' nonsense for so long. In a single tweet you have ruined ithttps://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1205230908837523456 …

Any pointer on non (or not too much) technical references about how the wave function collapse happens ? There are a lot of articles about decoherence but AFAIU it doesn’t explain the « sampling » irreversible part of the « observation »
-
I think all non-technical books will leave at "wave function collapses". There is no explanation on how. I doubt even if there is a technical explanation. Hence the term copenhagen "interpretation". You can read
@seanmcarroll books for more info. - 6 more replies

Hence why his anecdote isn't valid since in a video game when you look somewhere it doesn't influence the outcome? Influence of the outcome is a necessary condition for it to be a quantum system?
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Ignoring the "aka qm" part of
@elonmusk comment, in the first part he was talking about copenhagen interpretation isn't it? And I agree on observation influencing the observed. -
The issue here is that a quantum object is influenced by the measurement, but a macroscopic system wouldn't be affected so much because it's not a quantum object.
