Once upon a time I failed to bring a calculator to an important test. But I knew newton-raphson, the traditional square root algorithm (http://jwilson.coe.uga.edu/EMT668/EMAT6680.F99/Challen/squareroot/sqrt.html …) and another method based on continued fractions. That was many moons ago. Now I use a calculator to add two numbers
