I figured out the bra-ket pun about two years before I figured out that it was describing a dot product between a row vector and a column vector. Why are all the concepts so deeply stuck behind domain specific nomenclature?
Because it’s not just a dot product of a row and column vector. The inner product extends much more generally. In QM in particular you’re dealing with to L^2 spaces, for example as well. You want a notation that can capture all that
