"just through the university" My school had a separate IT department, who maintained most of the computers, printers, wires, wireless, and so on and so forth. If IT did not include software that a given academic department wanted, it was up to the academic department to pay.

One thing is for sure, getting someone to approve and install software was not easy--even if it was public domain (free), as such might be a security risk, might not be worth the time and effort to install (i.e. the IT department was not there to install whatever anyone wanted).

Then no. We were never told of any additional resources besides Office Online that comes with our Outlook email and I've never seen them on the 'hub' website we use.
