i don't remember enough linear algebra to know if this is a super big deal or if it's like that paper a few years ago where a doctor "discovered" the trapezoid rule for approximating integrals
Terence Tao probably remembers enough linear algebra though.

Viennot was clearly worked out similar conceptual ideas in his 1986 paper on Heaps of pieces though its relationship to eigenvectors in this context is more opaque. You need to know relationship between matrix analysis and graph theory.pic.twitter.com/TjYSR0TRGv
