You still need the submatrix eigenvalues in addition to the whole matrix eigenvalues to get the norm squared . To phrase your statement better: You can get the eigenvectors of a matrix using ONLY its eigenvalues AND submatrix eigenvalues.pic.twitter.com/aDkr0AV8hS
Yes, that's a fair point. Guess I was a bit excited to mention. It's really neat though since you have simplifying constraints from det(M), tr(M) and the symmetric polynomials .. that and also the sub-matrices will have iteratively easier char. polynomials

Not true that are iterative easier. These types of methods dont work in practice. They have exponential computational complexity and are not stable.
