(!) Gluons are also massless and do have self-interactions implying a non-abelian character of the that type a gauge theory. Another remark: neutrino's do also have a small (invariant) mass due to oscillations. (!)The proton acquires its mass mostly due to non higgs interactions
right but even though the gluon is massless it doesn't have a coulomb potential .. it has the linear "spring" term which can't be deduced from theory but rather is phenomenological .. makes me think now that solving confinement could advance gravitational gauge theories..
