They are .. I was referring to the animation side of it .. writing something that stretched and squished in proportion etc .. my first attempt was in 3D .. What I’m saying is that the physics was easy but the animation was annoying

Depends on how you do it. If you do it right it should be pretty simple, as it is merely a linear scaling factor. Write everything in terms of spring turns per unit of length, then modify that by realizing that the number of turns on the current length of spring is fixed.

yup! that's what i ended up doing .. i just had to figure that out first lol

By the way, if you add a very strong repulsive potential term to simulate the spring's maximum compression the results become pretty wild and jiggly!

noted! i'm sure i'll run into that problem soon enough.. i'm currently doing an animation that needs a 3D spring

also started playing around with Blender .. i'm not even close to being able to do animations/simulations yet

Awesome, looking forward to what kind of stuff you'll make once you get the hang of it! Blender's learning curve is wild. I can only do basic modeling with it right now. I do intend to learn how to use it well, though.

glad i'm not the only one who thought the learning curve was a bit steep
