      I would have made animated gifs if I could. The words create pictures in my brain. Take the reals and throw in a number i that squares to q. Graph the real part of exp(ix) with x real. As q varies from -1 to 1, this morphs from cos x to cosh x. (1/n)

      John, why do you say you can't make animations (GIFs)? i believe you could, so is it just a matter of volition? With all your insight i am sure they would be amazing!

      I was able to create this tweet in about an hour; I think explaining it all using gifs would take me much longer. That's why in my Visual Insight blog I had friends create images and gifs: https://blogs.ams.org/visualinsight/  I think that's the best solution.

      it’s extremely fun to make animations and on some level I have become obsessed with it .. for these reasons I think your decision is wise
