Yeah, you can also solve (simultaneous) systems of linear differential eqns by matrix methods and inverting matrices etc.
exactly .. tbh i thought it would be super cool to be able to prove the quotient rule purely from linear algebra

Yeah like matrix (Heisenberg-linear algebra) and differential eqn ( Schrödinger-differential operators) in QM we need Max Born and Pascual Jordan to rescue/prove it!
