I just referred that because there's some sort of form similarity between the maximal heights. I'm sure there's something going on, but clueless as to figure out how at the moment.

Are you referring to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steiner%27s_calculus_problem … ? I’d say the ellipses appearing from the maximum height of the trajectory can be shown via differential equations and kinematics, but I don’t believe it has anything to do with this and e
