I've been really sad and frustrated by the fact that I'm starting college on a physics degree a year later than I was supposed to because of personal reasons, but if someone like you can do something similar and still be successful in physics then that's really inspirational

Don't stress over being a year "late". I often think I'd have benefited from having a gap year prior to starting university, an extra year's maturity will go a long way. Oh and work hard in first year, it's always tougher than you think it'll be
