I don’t have strong feelings here but maybe Alex’s point is that only a very small modification, such as adding the word “segment” or talking about a sawtooth curve, would make the statement 100% true, so the justification for not doing so isn’t clear. 1/

By contrast, correcting Newtonian mechanics is conceptually hard. But maybe the average reader will have interpreted “line” as “line segment” anyway, especially given what happens at the edges of the animation. 2/2
