When you say 100 squares are randomly placed, what do you mean? 100 squares either blue white or light blue with equal probability?

I understand that you have 100 blue (opacity=0.4 ?) squares and for each you choose one of the 100 cells randomly. Overlay possible.

That's where there are two squares or more. 100 squares on a 10x10 grid, so some are on the same cell.
