Okay...legitimate question that's been nagging me for ages. How do you actually pronounce "sinh" when using the abbreviated form? I've heard "cinch" and "shine."

I wonder if shine is the Canadian pronunciation...the professor who used that one most was one of our gentle neighbors from the North (or South, as the case was).
