Once wrote a book where the publisher made no suggestions, no reviewers and it did very well. Another book had 3 co-authors, us and the publisher made 100s of suggestions as did many reviewers. The book bombed. Seemed like ‘too many cooks spoil the stew.’ Similar experience?
