Long time ago, I had the privilege to have an interview with Prof. H.B.G. in his house. Very interesting to hear his personal account of Bohr, Einstein, Pauli, Oppenheimer etc. Unfortunately I did not have a digital camara in 1986. Enclosed his personal letter to me:pic.twitter.com/mINmfEbhVf

Yes! He was personally very charmed about Bohr, whom he considered as a social down to earth family man. Einstein was less socially skilled he did not often attend some parties and Oppenheimer was often there a party man. Pauli was a bad driver. He recommend to study Weyl's book.

He personally picked me and my student friend up at the railway station to drive to his home by his car! In fact he was our driver, very humble and sincere! More than 33 years ago.

At that time (in 1986) Prof Casimir was 77 years of age and a former scientific board director of Philips (Electronics), he left academic life long time ago and Wolfgang Pauli was really regretful that Prof. Casimir made this decision. He passed away in year 2000.

Unfortunately his supervisor Paul Ehrenfest (also a close friend if Einstein) committed suicide (having a deep depression) in het Vondel Park in the center of Amsterdam in 1933.

Yes it is! Ehrenfest's supervisor Ludwig Boltzmann committed also suicide, but now enough about this all. Back to to scientific contributions of Hendrik Casimir.
