In spherical coordinates, math calls the azimuthal angle (angle in the xy plane) by theta and the zenith angle (from pos z-axis) phi, whereas physics calls the zenith theta and longitude phi. Other discrepancies in notation between areas of science? https://bit.ly/2WpjNiv
