Like real soap films - it sometimes isn't possible for the surface to stay connected, and it will 'pop' down to a single thread. I could add make it separate these threads, but as they are it allows it the surface to reconnect when pulled back togetherpic.twitter.com/f3KbjmOKQK

The topology of the surface stays the same (a disk with a hole), but the triangles along the 'thread' shrink down to near zero area at some moments

Right.. but as long as it has some finite width I still imagine it can be made continuous
