And writing it out like you have here really shows how the method is the same as FOILing, which everyone learns in algebra. That’s a strength of this I think. And seeing it graphically helps some kids. Teaching underlying concepts multiple ways is always a pro for kids
Personally I’m against teaching FOILing, but I’m not as against it as pure algorithms
