I think the Riemann tensor tells you how the volume changes from tidal forces, but the Weyl tensor only tells you about the shape.. so like the boundary but not the internal region

You can break up any tensor into s graceless part and an nonzero trace part.. the Ricci curvature is the tracefull part of the RCT whereas the Weyl CT is the traceless part
