I was not good enough (it is top sport) and theor high energy phys is currently in a crisis. After reading the accounts of Smolin, Woit and Hossenfelder. But in cosmology the challenges are there: GWs, Hubble Constant, dark matter & energy and Quantum Computing. I switched to IT.
