I think the main thing that mathematical finitists get wrong is that numbers “actually” exist—let alone ought to be a certain way.

I think maths "exists" insofar as languages exist. All aliens would probably have some form of communication, but does that make it universal or that there is some deeper principle at work? Not really, it's just a useful form of communication in the universe we find ourselves in

The structure itself could be nothing more than the fact we live in the same universe, so we’re going to talk about its phenomena in a similar way. Like with language.. if they all had verbs, nouns etc. does that indicate some linguistic structure of the universe?
