A function 𝑓 can be thought of as a vector, whose xᵗʰ component 𝑓ₓ is now a 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑢𝑜𝑢𝑠 variable, which we denote as 𝑓(𝑥). The dot product between two functions can therefore be seen as a continuous generalization of the familiar Euclidian dot product.pic.twitter.com/l23cl8Q8IC

I suspect that you didn't actually mean to say that "the xth component is a continuous variable", while that is usually true you surely mean the index itself, not the component...?
