Wondering whether to make my students in complex variables prove the maximum modulus principle. I mean, it’s … a thing … you should know. But we’re not going to use it for anything else. And any method for proving it is very different from other proof techniques we’ve used.

Only if they go on to work with analytic functions in the future. I decided to have them prove a local version, then I sketched the proof of the global version.
