Indeed it would very sensitive to the initial conditions, but the contours and however it's attached to the wall seem to constrain its motion quite heavily.

Just like how the double pendulum is a chaotic system, but lagrangian mechanics describes it just fine given a set of initial phase space conditions.

Lagrangian mechanics was made from constrained motion there is a whole section in my textbooks for it and it's hard to find chaos when order is forced
