The terminology of a gnosis and a theos are that the former applies the former is a claim of what is knowable and the latter is a stance on belief. Saying agnosticism is some ontological middle ground isn't true. One either believes in god(s) or not (theist or atheist)
Whether or not people claim to *know* one or other is the case would make them a (a)gnostic regardless of ontology
