Not sure I understand the philosophy behind the statement. And there is the LIGO Nobel as well.
She’s saying that truly counterintuitive results that indicate that our fundamental understanding is extremely misguided is more worthy of a Nobel Prize than confirming an existing one.. not that people who confirm them can’t win them

Okay and I agree to some extent but I am uncomfortable generalizing it. It seems to convey that experiments always precede theory but we all know it can go both ways. Theory of relativity, for instance (that was more Nobel worthy than the photo-electric effect, IMO).
