Interesting. Guess I'll have to see for myself!
It’s the usual curse of knowledge. Zee is a QFT expert and that’s why his QFT book is not really helpful for beginners. In contrast his gravity book reads as if it were written with beginners eyes
@JakobSchwich your approach in Physics From Symmetry I found to be rather effective had it been the first book I picked up on it—which (I think) you were going for.. unfortunately I hadn’t come across it until I was 2 years into QFT :(
When we did a review of the qft book market for our book, we added Zee on the list of recommended reading but characterized it as not primarily a textbook we'd use to start learning qft systematically, but rather as a collection of valuable insights, techniques and anecdotes.
I’d definitely agree with that
What was useless about the QFT one? I've got it but havent had a chance to read it yet
I think @Quantensalat’s reply to my comment gets it right.. it’s only useful if you already know QFT on a certain level.. So as a “textbook” (especially one with such a no nonsense title) it just doesn’t cut it
