I now have no grandparents left. My father also passed away last year at the age of 66 after battling cancer.
Itβs been a difficult couple of years, but I donβt let tragedy define my life.
Life is too short to waste and Iβm very grateful for all those who love and support me.

One part of me thought the sub book genre "Dark academia" was some YA fantasy stuff. So i never looked up what it was.
Today i learned its very close to gothic stuff but in an academic envierment, obsession, and critic to elitism and other academical societies.
I love that...

I used to be strongly against monarchies and I still am in a legal sense, but living in Japan and seeing the respect people have for the Emperor has changed my perspective.
I get why these institutions still exist. They help to symbolically unify a country's people.

It would never happen in the U.S. obviously, but imagine if Trump or Biden had a Queen Elizabeth-like figure who they consulted with for advice.
It wouldn't affect policy, but it would certainly create a sense of humility all political leaders should have.

We've reached 50% of our Patreon goal! Thank you all for the incredible support so far!
Whether you're a Patron, tipping via KoFi, or helped to spread the word it's all appreciated.
But we can't celebrate yet - VNGD can only continue to exist if we reach (and maintain) 100%.

I dislike the v. idea of monarchy & being a "subject", even if cosmetic. But experience shows that, just as w/religion, when you remove kings, you tend to get something vastly worse (nature abhores a vacuum).
Removing the king is like bulldozing museums.
Pple don't get Burke.

Chinese and Koreans who work and study in Japan unsurprisingly often end up having a far more positive view of the country.
The same holds true vice-versa for Japanese who work and study in China and Korea. The best way to combat prejudice is with real human interaction.
