You have heard of open carry right?

Whether I'm the shopper or the employee, I open myself up to legal charges and being fired for threatening someone's life who's stealing goods that aren't mine to protect. The companies need to hire people specifically to protect their goods.

is there another reason you’re aware of that shoplifting is so spectacularly higher in SF than anywhere else?

Perhaps, but they would never let it spiral out of control as it's happening in SF now tho. It's easy to be chill about it if it's a rare occurrence to begin with.

You don’t get it either. You can arrest them all damn day long. They’ll be out by sundown. Suspect arrested for GTA, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of narcotics— less than 12 hours inside. Welcome to Cali.

It's an intimidation game. And from what I've seen. Only real police can deter the shoplifters. And the thieves know if they get hurt. The media will turn it into a huge deal. Safeway on King street has real police officers. And that solved their issue.

Actually, this is not true. Shoplifting is taken seriously everywhere but blue states.
