Has it never occured to trans activists that the massive surge in the number of gender clinic referrals is bad for trans people? Why do you think the waiting lists have gotten so ridiculously long? 1/3

This is very misleading. If more people being referred leads to long waitlists, maybe we should change the system to accommodate greater numbers. Don’t act like people questioning their gender is the problem rather than the lack of support? Also, being referred to—

— a gender clinic doesn’t mean you identify as trans. It means you’re exhibiting signs of gender dysphoria that a medical professional thinks are strong enough to warrant speaking to a gender therapist. Tons of people referred end up IDing as cis.

You don't find it suspicious that people identifying as trans has went from being an extremely rare group of mostly older men, to a booming group primarily of young women and girls? Since the concept of gender identity blew up online? That's not raising any red flags for you?

That’s reductive. Trans people have always been subjected to incredible violence and discrimination— of course numbers of openly trans people were low until it became more socially acceptable and legal discriminations were rolled back somewhat. It’s less dangerous now.

I suggest you look into the massive shift in demographics and the fact that many of these young women and girls are lesbian, autistic and/or struggling with eating disorders or other body image issues. To boil it down to "it's more accepted now" is horrifically naïve.
