I was diagnosed with gender dysphoria at a gender clinic I injected testosterone for 4 and a half years I underwent a double mastectomy I lived as a trans man for over 5 years I regret having done so I am a woman who detransitioned And I'm not the only one. #DetransAwarenessDay

At the point of diagnosis, what other treatment path could (or should) have been offered to you, and do you think you would have chosen it? Thank you for sharing your story #DetransAwarenessDay

I was struggling with depression and trauma at the time I was put forward for hormones. I think therapy to address my issues outside the dysphoria would have improved my mental health and diminished my desire to transition.

I am a trans person, who intends to stay transitioned, but I strongly agree with this. There needs to be a functional theraputic component to gender care. What form it should take is difficult to say, though. I don't like the idea of more gatekeeping, but support is needed.

I feel my doctors did a reasonable job in diagnosing my dysphoria, and informing me of the medical risks, but once I was prescribed hormones I was kind of turned loose. I sort of expected that transition would be a magic pill that fixed all of my problems, and it *was not*

Thank you. I know a lot of trans people who benefitted from transition and went on to live happy lives, but unfortunately they aren't often called in for their blood checks. Health and mental health care for trans and detrans people needs to be improved - for all our sakes.

Yes I have a couple of detrans friends, and I've seen how hard it was First "transition would fix it" and then "detransiton would fix it" but never in there did they receive adequate support I can't speak to their unique experiences but I know they told me how lonely it was

I would call myself someone who benefited from transition, and am happier having done it, but I can safely say that without having done a lot of therapy I would still be miserable regardless. Anyway, best of luck in your journey, detrans folks will always have my support.
