At 05:50 Dr Turban brings up the 2015 US trans survey (USTS), an anonymous online survey of trans adults in the US. This, he says, proves that most people who detransition don't do so due to regret. 5/x

Except, the USTS was a survey for *trans* people, not detrans people. Those who responded would only report temporary detransition because they identify as trans at the time of responding. A survey on trans people won't be taken by detrans people because we're not trans. 6/x

At 10:30 Dr Turban claims that trans exclusionary radical feminists and the like can cause trans people to internalize their transphobia and, thus, cause them to detransition – which he compares to gay conversion therapy. 7/x

At 33:57 he says “psychiatrists don't treat gender dysphoria,” again comparing doing so to conversion therapy. He says psychiatrists help with other mental health issues (anxiety, depression etc). He says dysphoria is treated with medicine, not talk therapy. 8/x

I have to say
@jack_turban that for myself and the many other detransitioners I've spoken to who did experience regret, I wish my psychiatrist had treated my gender dysphoria. I wish my other issues had been addressed. I wish I'd been given therapy instead of hormones. 9/x6 replies 56 retweets 332 likesShow this thread -
It's painfully evident from what you've said that you don't care about the wrong kinds of detransitoners – those of us who experienced transition regret - because you spend every opportunity you get trying to pretend we don't exist. Frankly, you're a disgrace to medicine. 10/10

To add: I didn't even scratch the surface of the utter nonsense that was spouted in this podcast, because this thread would be massive if I tried. Go listen for yourselves, if you can stomach it. Though my fellow detrans folk may have a hard time tolerating Turbans mental BS.

I appreciate you listening through that and writing about some of it. I'm attempting to listen now but honestly, just reading about it has already bothered me. It's so infuriating

I normally enjoy listening to opposing views because I usually learn something new by doing so, but that podcast was a dumpster fire. No nuance, no professional curiosity. But - I'm glad I listened. It's important to know what Drs like Turban are doing.

He was recently on twitter suggesting that blockers be made available for free to young people w/o parental consent.

If you listen to the podcast, you'll understand why. He doesn't see blockers as serious medical intervention for young people. To him, all "gender affirmative care" is just wonderful.
