Honestly, I’m still reeling from @RandPaul conflating female genital mutilation (widely condemned as a human rights abuse) and gender-affirming medical care for #trans youth (endorsed by every major medical organization). He faced 0 consequences for misleading the public.

I think it's best to tell youth that they're perfect and beautiful as they, and that they don't need change themselves. If the condition prevails into adulthood then, and only then, should medical intervention be considered. Leave kids alone.

The complexities of forming an identity and the impact of life experiences are not solvable through physical change but emotional/mental change. Self-reflection, contemplation, understanding and mental maturity are needed before blockers, hormones or other invasive medical care.

Unfortunately Watson, Jack doesn’t believe you who have detransitioned exist. Or if any do they are a rare anomaly and refuses to talk with any of you. The real kicker is he hasn’t done any research into detrans youth and young adults cos it would skew his bias.

It's a shame. I'd gladly talk with him about how much being affirmed and transitioning harmed me and the many other detransitioners I'm in contact with.
